Empowering the Next Generation of Agroecological Researchers

Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT) is proud to announce the 10th Workshop for Participatory Research Design (WPRD), a platform that fosters innovative research in sustainable farming practices. We invite students from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) to participate in this groundbreaking event.

Workshop Overview

Since 2014, SAT, in collaboration with SUA, has been at the forefront of participatory action research in agroecology. This workshop is an extension of our commitment to address the pressing concerns of Tanzanian farmers and pastoralists through scientific research and innovation.

Key Research Areas

Participants will delve into a range of vital topics, including:

  • The efficiency of biopesticides in controlling garden caterpillars and fall army worms.
  • Exploring the effectiveness of moringa and neem leaves in animal healthcare.
  • Investigating biofertilizers to combat crop diseases.
  • Enhancing mechanization in agroecological practices.

Participation and Funding

This workshop is open to:

  • SUA students in the 3rd and 5th years of their study.
  • Master's students at SUA.

The most compelling research proposals will be awarded funding to bring their ideas to life:

  • TZS 1,100,000 for undergraduate projects.
  • TZS 3,300,000 for master's projects.

How to Apply

Submit a one-page Expression of Interest that addresses the listed research areas and outlines your approach to tackling these challenges. The best submissions will be invited to the workshop, where you can further develop your concepts.

Event Details

  • Date: 02nd December 2023
  • Submission Deadline: 28th November 2023
