Created on 10 May 2017 in Mtombozi Village under the SAT-implemented USP Project, the Usambite Farmer Group stands as a beacon of community empowerment. Their journey, grounded in unity, value addition, savings and loan practices, and robust agroecological farming, shows what a united group of farmers can achieve when armed with the right knowledge, skills, and support.

Members participated in transformative training covering organic agroecological farming methods, entrepreneurship, savings and lending, and value addition techniques for agricultural products. This commitment to learning has paved the way for a highly successful spice processing enterprise: the group now processes and packages high-value spice products including vanilla, cloves, coffee, ginger, turmeric, and cardamom, opening new markets both locally and beyond.

With increased revenue from processed spices, members are better equipped to support their households and invest in their futures. The group's Savings and Lending Scheme has helped many pay school fees on time and others to build or renovate houses and expand small businesses. Usambite also remains dedicated to sustainable agroecological practices  compost preparation, crop diversification, mulching, and soil conservation  that improve soil fertility and help farms withstand changing weather patterns.
